Week In Review: Is it possible to overcome DNA?

Recap
Is it possible to overcome the small investors' D.N.A.?
Review
By far the single biggest concern for the small investor is overcoming the feeling, the notion, the idea, the thought, the paranoia if you will of yet another massive market correction.
What To Do
Buy mutual funds (or ETFs) with large positions in your "favorite" overpriced stock (think Apple, Google, Amazon, Priceline....) = another way for the small investor to get back into this market. So, you think the aforementioned stocks are too pricey? They have gone up and you missed the boat? You may be right, but chances are Facebook will go public, and a lot of small investors will be saying the same thing about it 5 years from now. Consider this! Owning a mutual fund (I know I wrote a few months back about the end of mutual fund investing, but sometimes you have no choice (think 401k, EIRA, pensions, etc.) that has one or two of your favorite overpriced stocks as one of the largest positions. For example, Janus has long been a large holder of Apple. So, if you have been one or our clients over the past 3,5,10 years, then you have participated in Apple's unbelievable stock price appreciation - yes I am allowed to plug Clark Bros here it is my newsletter! Anyhow, this is yet another reason we have not been quick to dump Janus fund shares even though we have removed several of their funds from our lineup. If you are frozen in small investor land, then this may be one way to slowly get back into this market.
Quote of the Week
