| Where to start? Take a look (again) at the above classic contrarian statement. Maybe, just maybe, investing (whether real estate or the stock market) has more to do with understanding what makes stocks or real estate go up and down v. the classic emotional investment triggers? On the surface some things look easy. However, as with most things, what might appear to look easy is actually the most difficult. For instance, it’s hard to get a true feeling of the expertise and competency of driving an Indy car by watching the Indy 500 from your couch. Or, the extreme mental focus required on the 13th hole at Augusta National. Investor psychology has always been the most fascinating aspect of investing for me. You can literally pay one of thousands of people to run the numbers, do the math, spreadsheets, investment models, algorithms, etc.; however, the art (ergo psychology) of investing is what will make you the most money – by far!
