| All funny stuff aside (technical analysis, the price of oil, Obama running for President again in 2012), nobody knows where the market is going today, this week, in May, this summer, at the end of this year, or any other chosen time frame. I have been following the stock market every day (almost every hour) for more than 20 years now. I have a personal log of all predictions made on the direction of the stock market, and no one has ever correctly and accurately predicted what the stock market will do. NOT ONE! This should tell you something. Always is hard to beat; so is 100% of the time! Sure, there have been your infamous predictions (correct and accurate), but these were isolated one-time events or….L.U.C.K. Its not just stocks that people can not predict – it is literally everything else! Today’s final 4 Championship, Butler v. Uconn; Women’s final 4 Championship, Texas A&M v. Notre Dame; Coloradans will appreciate this next one, The Denver Nuggets! (15-4 and in the playoffs after trading franchise “star” to New York); the uprisings all over the Middle East (nobody, as usual, had a clue about the enormous social unrest despite all of our “intelligence”). If something is proven to be unpredictable, then why do so many (both professionals and amateurs) keep trying over and over and over again to predict the unpredictable? I don’t know, but I think it has something (if not everything) to do with….YOUR D.N.A.! This is the topic of our new lecture series, “The D.N.A. of INVESTING”, beginning May 2011.
